Hi... I'm Jo...

... We are all individuals with our own unique outlook on the world, and as an Integrative Counsellor, I use a tailored mix of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (challenging unhelpful thoughts and behaviours), Psychodynamic (understanding how past experiences might shape your present) and a Person-centred approach (with you in control), to find the best therapy for your specific needs.

I offer both short- and long-term therapy, with a free first consultation (30 mins), and will work with you either face-to-face or via phone or video call. I have experience in working with domestic and sexual abuse, relationship issues, menopause and peri-menopause, anxiety, depression, physical illness, bereavement, concerns around diet and food, as well as the stress of just being a human being in these times. If you're feeling the lasting impact of adversity, such as the Covid pandemic - like you're struggling to adjust and adapt - we can spend time processing those feelings of vulnerability that can leave us unmoored in our present lives. Sometimes we just need a place to download.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

My background

I currently have a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling and I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I have been seeing clients for four years who have presented with a huge range of issues, from the post-pandemic trauma, domestic and sexual abuse, stress around the menopause, grief, anxiety, depression, physical illness, as well as relationship concerns. I also have a Diploma in Nutrition for Children and Young people, which many clients have found helpful.

I have done multiple external training around DVA in order to offer a safe space to those affected.

Testimonial

J S, client

“Jo is a fantastic therapist, she brought light to a particularly dark time for me and helped me resolve long standing issues around emotional repression. I went into therapy with very low expectations, expecting it to amount to nothing, Jo was extremely attentive and insightful proving me very very wrong. She listens in a way I had never experienced before, in a way only a professional could."
